WhatsApp beta recently released a new feature for users of the application, allowing them to create polls in groups as well as on Telegram, a rival messenger that has had this function for a long time.

According to information on the portal WABetaInfo, the novelty was released by the developer for both Android and iOS in versions 2.22.21.16 and 22.21.0.70, respectively. With the new feature, users enrolled in the tester program can create polls and make them available for voting in groups.

This function allows participants to vote on topics being discussed by group admins with the result displayed as a percentage. As screenshots show, the new feature allows you to enter the survey title and up to twelve response options.

As with Telegram, the WhatsApp poll will also present the results in real time after the participants vote. The poll creator can click “View Votes” to access details giving the total amount of votes in each option.

The implementation of this novelty in the beta version of WhatsApp reinforces the possibility of the stable build also receiving polls in future updates. However, as with previous updates, for now this novelty is being released progressively and in batches, that is, not everyone will receive the feature at the same time.

Meta (formerly Facebook) has not released information about the forecast of global availability, but considering the company’s history, it is expected to occur within 2 months of the beta debut.
