Apple will formalize the iPhone 15 generation on September 12. What do we know and what do we suppose?
3nm processor? Periscope lens? Wi-Fi 6E? USB 3.2, or even Thunderbolt 3? So many elements that Apple could reserve for the Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 15.
The new range will be unveiled on Tuesday September 12, at 7 p.m. (French time). We are expecting, on this same occasion, the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2.
3nm processor
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus would inherit the 4nm processor currently integrated in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max: the A16 Bionic.
The 15 Pro and Pro Max would feature the A17 Bionic.
Periscope lens
With this mechanism, the lens is in the phone, associated with a prism or mirror. Apple would reserve it for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro would have a “classic” zoom. The other models would lack it.
Wi-Fi 6E and USB 3.2
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus would remain with Wi-Fi 6 and USB 2.0 (480 Mb/s). Unlike the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. The latter would have Wi-Fi 6E and a USB 3.2 interface (20 Gb/s), if not Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s). In any case, that would be the end of the Lightning port, leaving room for USB-C.
Dynamic Island, ProMotion, Qi2…
Compared to the iPhone 14, there would be no change in screen sizes (6.1 and 6.7 inches). But Apple would generalize the Dynamic Island, which allows you to hide the notch. It would not do the same for ProMotion technology (adaptive refreshing), which would remain reserved for Pro models.
The possible return of Touch ID should not be any time soon. We’ll stick with Face ID. Qualcomm would also remain the supplier of 5G modems, with Apple’s modems still under development.
The mute switch would give way to a programmable button, while certain models would support wired charging up to 35 W; and 15 W by induction with third-party accessories via the Qi2 standard.
There is talk of a price increase, at least for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The respective entry tickets for the current generation are, on the Apple France website, €1,329 and €1,479 including tax.
