WD Elements SE is the new solution for portable storage from Western Digital. The drive combines total mobility by being able to carry it in a pocket with the high performance of solid state drives.
SSD has completely swept hard drives as an internal storage solution for personal computers. They are also widely used in external storage with the same performance, weight and connectivity benefits, with examples like the SanDisk Extreme or Seagate BarraCuda that we had the opportunity to review and are representative of this segment.
WD Elements SE is another of this type although it stands out for its minimum size (64 x 64 x 8 mm) and its weight of 27 grams that allows it to be carried comfortably in a pocket and transported anywhere, managing the content, professional or leisure. on laptops, desktops, or other devices. In addition to the compact design, it is resistant to drops of up to 2 meters.
Its connection interface is USB 3.0 and uses a micro B connector instead of a more modern USB Type C, probably to increase compatibility with a greater number of computers. Even so, it offers a speed in data transfers in sequential reading of 400 Mbytes per second.
The unit is plug & play, which means that the product is ready to use from the initial start-up and works easily with any workflow. It is delivered formatted with the exFAT file system with official support for Windows and macOS, although it can be used with other file systems and operating systems.
