Elon Musk has tweeted again mentioning one of the upcoming news that we could see on Twitter. This time it is not about a feature that improves the user experience, but rather about a topic that creators will be interested in.
It promises income to the creators who bet on the platform, but not all of them are included in this list. We tell you what this new Twitter strategy is about.
Twitter will pay content creators
Musk assured that Twitter will begin to share advertising revenue with creators. That is, income from the ads that appear in your tweet threads. However, this proposal does not include all the creators of the platform, as he mentions in his tweet:
Starting today, Twitter will share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their response threads. To be eligible, account must be a verified Twitter Blue subscriber.
That’s right, only creators with a Twitter Blue subscription will be able to benefit from this ad revenue share. Let’s remember that Twitter has given content creators some options to earn money, such as Ticketed Spaces or Super Follows.
However, these entries are based on creators’ interaction with their audience. That is, direct payments thanks to the support of their followers. With this new ad revenue proposition, Twitter’s strategy is completely different. It will be necessary to see if Twitter currently has the capacity to implement this system, taking into account the context that the platform is suffering.
At this time, Musk has not provided further details on the matter, for example, what percentage the creators will earn, how they will be paid or how many impressions the ad must have to generate income. So we will have to wait to see this new monetization system for creators up and running.
