Twitter Blue subscribers have a new feature, as Elon Musk announced that he is extending the length of videos that can be uploaded to the platform.

Yes, the 60 minute limit is in the past, and now you will have the possibility to upload videos of up to 2 hours. However, in its debut, this novelty brought some headaches to Twitter.

Videos of up to 2 hours, the new Twitter

Elon Musk announced that it is increasing the length of videos that users with a Twitter Blue subscription can upload. The subscription already allowed them to upload video up to 60 minutes and a maximum size of 2GB.

And now, thanks to the new update, Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to upload videos of up to 2 hours, with a maximum size of 8 GB and 1080p resolution. And yes, many thought those features would be ideal for sharing movies on Twitter.

Twitter has a new problem with the new video limit

Someone took this new feature as a “permission” to do just this, and shared the full version of Shrek 3. The video is no longer available, now you will only see the tweet with the message:

This media content was disabled in response to a copyright complaint by the owner.

While the Twitter team fixed the issue, the video had thousands of views in no time. And perhaps, it will become a real problem in the future.

On the other hand, beyond the movies uploaded to Twitter, some users have also taken advantage of the update to upload music videos and loops of funny situations, and others not so much.

Returning to the new limit of 2 hours for videos, there is a detail to take into account. This upload limit is only available if you plan to upload the video from the Twitter app for iOS, or from its web version. In the case of Android, this update has no effect.
