Tributes flow following sudden death of ‘true Stoneybatter man’ Philip O’Neill

Tributes have been flowing in following the sudden death of ‘true Stoneybatter man’ Philip O’Neill.

Philip died on 7 January surrounded by his family and will be extremely missed in the community.

He loved his hometown and was a well-known figure in the area.

His funeral took place today at 11am with locals taking to social media to say goodbye to the much-loved Dubliner.

Philip will be greatly missed by his daughter Michelle, his son Keith, daughters Michelle and Jan, grandsons Dylan and Marcus, sister Helen, nieces and nephews, son in-law Joe, extended family and his large circle of friends.

The whole Dublin 7 has been left in complete shock after Philip’s untimely death and a book of condolence has been opened.

A local page paid tribute to the Stoneybatter legend.

They wrote: “We were saddened to learn of the death of Philip O’Neill from Aughrim Street – a true Stoneybatter man who was born, raised, lived and loved in Dublin 7. Philip passed away Friday 7th January surrounded by his family.

“His funeral will take place on Monday 17th January at 11am mass in Church of the Holy Family, Aughrim Street.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

One neighbour commented: “Sleep peacefully Phil, a true gentleman. All our love.”

Another wrote: “A Stoneybatter LEGEND.”
