If there is something clear in the segment of the electric cars is that Tesla has more and more competition. An example is an announcement that has just been released and that follows up on news that was released more or less a year ago: already there is a date for the arrival on the market of the first model of the collaboration between Honda and Sony. Therefore, more stones in the way of the company led by Elon Musk.
Afeela Sony’s first electric car with Honda, prepare Tesla
First of all, in an event held at CES in Las Vegas led by the CEO of Sony (Kenichiro Yoshida), the name that the vehicle we are talking about will have: Afeela. This will be a four door sedan that could be seen on the stage itself. Therefore, the design is no longer a secret and, the truth is that the car is really attractive.
A great set of sensors in this Sony car
Taking into account that Honda contributes its experience and manufacturing capacity and Sony, for its part, everything that has to do with technology. Things are looking especially good in this collaboration. Thus, for example, the Afeela It will have a total of 45 elements (between camera and sensors) inside and outside the car to ensure excellent safety and comfort. Even these from the outset will have level 3 autonomous driving -that is, with certain limitations, but quite advanced, so it can work in situations such as traffic jams-.
Another of the great attractions that this model will have will be everything related to entertainment, which is increasingly important in the motor industry. Thus, for example, in the Afeela will have a system capable of executing graphics in three dimensions, so it will be possible to play advanced titles -watch out for the collaboration with Epic Games here- to enjoy high-quality multimedia content. By the way, all this will also be used to optimize everything that has to do with communication and security.
Arrival dates of this new car
This has been another of the great innovations in the presentation, and it has been quite a surprise. It was not expected that Sony executives will indicate the times that have been established to be able to buy the Afeela in the market. But, luckily, they already know each other: the orders can be placed in the first half of 2025, with initial sales in that same year. Shipments are set for 2026, the first place chosen for it being the US.
In short, more wood for the electric car market which, clearly, are an essential leg in the motor world. And, therefore, everyone wants their piece of the pie… which does not suit Tesla at all. But that’s the way things are.
