There are many times when the Internet does not work as we would like, it goes too slow and doesn’t load and everything slows down. Almost always restarting the router is a good option and it is simple because we just have to go to the device, press the button, unplug and wait a few seconds to plug it in again and connect it again. But we can’t always or feel like getting up or moving and we’ll explain a trick that allows us to restart the Movistar router without getting up.
Although it is not difficult to restart the router and we have already explained to you how easy the process is: you just need to turn it off, let a couple of minutes pass and plug it back in and turn it on. But much better and more comfortable is to do it directly from the mobile phone without having to move wherever you are.
Smart Wi-Fi app
The Movistar Smart WiFi router is of high quality but one of its main advantages is the ease with which we can configure or control the device and all aspects of our network. We can control practically everything from the Movistar Smart WiFi app. Among all these functions, it allows to restart.

For example, if you are watching a movie on Netflix on the Smart TV and the Internet is not working as it should. You don’t have to get up from the couch to reboot the router and hope it works better after a few minutes. You only need to have the Movistar Smart WiFi app on your mobile and it is free for iOS and Android.
How to restart
Once we have the app downloaded and configured, we can do it. It is logical that we will not be able to have the app if we do not have the operator’s router and a contracted rate. This application is of no use if you have another device or if you have another contracted company, of course. But it is useful if you have Smart Wi-Fi router. If you have never accessed, we must access using our username and password for the Movistar customer area. ID and password.
Once inside you will see all the devices connected to the router, something especially useful to check if someone steals your WiFi. But we can also touch the router itself to see the settings and modify them. We can see the name and model, manufacturer and technical information in addition to the IP address.
Under all these details, we will find a green button that indicates “Restart”. It is very simple and we will only have to press the button. We will stop having an Internet connection for a few minutes while the entire process is completed.
Other options
As is logical, the Movistar app is not the only option, although it is the most comfortable, but you can do it in a conventional way if you have a browser and the IP address of your router, which will usually be 192.168.1.1. We enter it in the address bar of the browser and we will access the router. You must enter with your username and password to the settings and parameters of the device and here you can look for the option to reboot it remotely without having to touch it.
Also from here we can, in most cases, reset the factory.
