It is curious to see how Xiaomi, with how active it is every year launching reviews of all its smartphones with new ranges that replace those of a few months before, does not keep the same pace when it comes to tablets. A market that experienced a boom practically a decade ago and that was fading little by little, leaving only the most cutting-edge companies to renew their higher quality devices.

Apple, Samsung, Huawei or Xiaomi, among others, are among the few that usually have news in this field although the Chinese, with their Mi Pad range, have not offered updates for more than two years. Specifically since June 2018, when the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 went on sale. Hence, the leak in the last hours of the existence of a new model is enough to be happy.

Design, hardware and estimated price

One of the things that is clear when seeing these published renders of the future Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 is that the design is going to change. From the purely iPad aspect of the previous model (you can see it in the opening image), pWe roast to shapes that also remind us of Apple’s Pro models, with rounded corners, frames reduced to the minimum expression and an all-screen front without buttons.

Of course, what all manufacturers seem to agree on is that the best aspect resolution for these tablets is 4: 3, in this case, it will have an LCD panel with 2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, as well as Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The rear of the tablet is striking, where a camera module with three sensors appears, two of them photographic 20 (with Sony IMX586 technology) and 13MP, and the third for depth tasks, or ToF (time of fly), in the style of the LiDAR sensors that equip Apple models.

The processor of this tablet will be a Snapdragon 870, with variants of 8 and 12GB of RAM, as well as a storage that we can choose between 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes in various colors. Made with an aluminum frame, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will have a fingerprint reader on one of the side buttons and will allow it to be used with a stylus that the Chinese will also distribute. Your price will vary from 619 dollars (509.90 euros) of the most basic model to 774 dollars (637.58 euros) the most expensive. Of course, Xiaomi will manufacture a much more top version of the tablet, with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage that will have a price of 851 dollars, that is, 700.87 euros to change.
