Today is the day chosen by Google for the presentation of the new generation of Pixel devices, among which are the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro that, as Google already anticipated weeks ago, will bring the new Tensor G2 chip.
Regarding Tensor G2, the company boasts that it is 60% faster, mostly in tasks that involve the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and 20% more energy efficient, thanks to its 4nm process manufacturing, which translates into a longer battery life, thus trying to close the criticism of the original tensor in terms of the autonomy of mobile devices.
Tensor G2 is also powered by Titan M2, which adds multiple layers of security, including so-called “protected computing” to make user data more private and secure.
Let’s now go through the specifications of the new Pixel 7, the most standard option, which follows the same design line as the previous generation, although the rear camera module has evolved to the point of being able to know where the two built-in cameras are located .
At the screen level, it brings a 6.3-inch AMOLED FullHD + screen, with a 90Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness peak of 1,400 nits. 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM is accompanied by 128 GB or 256 GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage.
The battery has a capacity of 4,355 mAh and supports 30W fast charging and has support for wireless charging using the Qi standard.
In the photographic section, it comes with a main camera with a 50MP sensor, with x2 optical zoom, and a wide-angle camera with a 12MP sensor, while the front camera has a 10.8MP sensor, which is the one that will also be used for face unlock without the need for any additional sensor.
Google introduces the “Cinematic Blur” functions in videos and support for 10-bit HDR video to get the most out of cameras, although for Google Photos it adds the “Sharpen Photo” function, which allows you to improve images that are slightly moved.
This new model brings, in addition to 5G connectivity, Wifi 6E connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC.
As additional aspects, it has IP68 certification, a fingerprint sensor on the screen, and it will arrive on the markets on the 13th in three color options: Snow, Obsidian and Lime Green, under Android 13 as the operating system, and with prices ranging between 649 euros and 749 euros.
Regarding the Pixel 7 Pro, the screen is of the 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED QHD + type, with a 120Hz refresh rate and protected by Gorilla Victus. It will come with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, although some regions may also opt for a version with 512GB of internal storage.
The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh, with 30W fast charging, 23W wireless fast charging, and reverse wireless charging.
In the photographic section, it has also had an evolution of the rear camera module, and it includes a 50MP main camera (82° FOV, f/1.85), a 12MP ultra-wide camera (114° viewing angle, f /2.2), and a third camera of 48MP (f/3.5) with optical zoom of five increases is added, being able to reach up to 10 increases in digital zoom.
Having a wider zoom range, this Pixel 7 Pro is capable of reaching up to 30x with electronic and optical image stabilization included, and on the other hand, laser detection autofocus (LDAF) is present in all three cameras. .
The front camera has a 10.8MP (f/2.2) sensor. This model also comes with 5G connectivity, being able to choose SIM or eSIM, in addition to WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC. On the other hand, it also has a fingerprint sensor integrated in the screen, IP68 certification, and stereo speakers.
At the system level, it comes with Android 13, has free access to the Google One VPN service, will enjoy five years of security updates, and in the camera application, to the already known functions, Macro Focus is added, which It allows objects to be brought closer and details to be shown without the need for the use of macro lenses, and at the video level, recordings can be made in up to 4K at 60 fps through the rear cameras.
It will also arrive on October 13 in the markets in three color options: Obsidian, Hazel and Snow, with prices starting at 899 euros and up.
Both the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro are already available for pre-order.
