Performance with two protagonists and screens with three resolutions
To begin, we stop at the first thing that comes to mind: the screen. We have panels of various sizes and different resolutions, although all should meet expectations. There are many AMOLED screens in the Xiaomi 13 series, and the vibrant colors and deep blacks of this technology have made Xiaomi choose this type of panels.
If we are looking for a somewhat more compact terminal, we should go for the Xiaomi 13, the base model that reaches the 6.36 inches. This is the “smallest” mobile in the series, and therefore the only significant difference in relation to the screen. The rest of the family reaches approximately 6.7 inches, with almost imperceptible differences.
The resolutions do vary, with the 1080p minimum for the base model and 2K for the ‘Pro’ and ‘Ultra. On the other hand, the new Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro stay at an intermediate 1,220p.
In relation to the performance, we have two protagonists, common in the sector. On the one hand we have Qualcomm signing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, equipped in the three Xiaomi 13 that were presented at the beginning of the year. And on the other, to Mediatek, which puts its two most advanced processors: Dimensity 8200 Ultra and Dimensions 9200+.
It is accompanied by good amounts of RAM, with the 12 GB included in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xiaomi 13T Pro. Storage will not be a problem either, and appears similar except for the 1 TB versions of the ‘Ultra’ and ’13T Pro’
Telephoto for everyone but the king in photography has a name and surname
Photography is now also an obsession for Xiaomi, and has shown a growing level in this new family. The Xiaomi 13 present a very capable camera set, with more obvious differences in the premium models. Something that everyone will enjoy is the telephoto sensor, suitable for zooming without losing quality.
However, only the Xiaomi 13 has a 10-megapixel telephoto, in the rest the ante is raised to 50 megapixels. Here we make another exception: the super telephoto of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is a beast, the most cutting-edge in the range, and exclusive to this model.
With the wide angle Something similar happens: we can capture images at a wider angle at 12 megapixels on the Xiaomi 13, 13T and 13T Pro, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Ultra equip it with more resolution.
The selfie camera It is essential for many, and this time it will not matter which one to choose, since they all have quality sensors. 32 megapixels in the three terminals launched jointly, and 20 megapixels for the versions with the last name ‘T’.
Cutting-edge connectivity and water resistance for everyone
Entering the territory of software we can say little. MIUI 14, the latest version of Xiaomi’s customization layer is in all models of the family, running on Android 13. Although Xiaomi’s new policy is notable: 4+1 years of updates for the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro.
Obviously, as they belong to the high range, they are all compatible with the new 5G networks, as well as the latest versions of WiFi, accepting WiFi 6E and shining with their own strength. WiFi 7 support of those recently presented, which will be prepared for the future of this wireless connection.
Dual SIM is one of Xiaomi’s hallmarks, and the whole family can use two telephone lines simultaneously. They repeat other features such as NFC, and IP68 certification present in all five mobiles. Thus, they gain resistance to the entry of water and dust, an almost mandatory specification in this price range.
In essence, we have two different choices if we want power, while the rest of the specifications represent small differences. Some will be important for some users, and others for the rest, but if we are looking for “the most of the most”, it will be better to opt for the most advanced models: Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13 Ultra or Xiaomi 13T Pro.
Xiaomi has achieved complete the Xiaomi 13 family with two very round products, which complement the existing smartphones. If there is a manufacturer capable of cornering the market with different versions, it is the one directed by Lei Jun.
