The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be the heart of Xiaomi’s new flagship. LEICA has a new camera system with a Summilux main camera never before seen on a Xiaomi
Tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., Spanish peninsular time, we have an appointment with Xiaomi. The company will present both the Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi Watch S3 and its new HyperOS customization layer. However, there may not be any surprises left to reveal by the time of the event.
This time it is not the fault of the leaks, but of a Xiaomi that is revealing all the details and key features of the new Xiaomi 14. And, then, we are going to compile all the information that they have been publishing so far.
Design, screen and processor
First of all, it seems that All the information they are sharing has to do with the Xiaomi 14, not the Pro model. Both are expected to be very similar in both designs and features, but in the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro We had some details that changed between the models.
The Pro model may be the one they are saving for tomorrow, since the Xiaomi 14 is practically known perfectly at this point. The first thing is that the design is similar to last year’s, but with a huge camera module on the back and a screen with a flat finish.
The trend is to reduce the curvature of the panels, something that even Samsung seems to be applying to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The bezels seem extremely thin and, at least on the Xiaomi 14 model, we will have a 6.36-inch panel with a density of 460 pixels per inch (1.5K resolution) and LTPO refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz.
The most striking thing is that the peak brightness will be 3,000 nits, being one of the brightest screens on a smartphone. When we can analyze it, we will have to see how long and in what percentage of the panel those 3,000 nits are reached, but it is certainly a surprising figure.
On the processor side there are no surprises: Xiaomi will bet on the recently presented one Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is a surprising SoC in terms of power, but it is highly designed for artificial intelligence and graphics at a current generation console level.
A few days ago it was said that the Xiaomi 14 would go further than ever in cameras thanks to a new Summilux lens system co-developed with Leica. We know that the main sensor is new, the company says it is a leap forward in mobile sensors and has not talked about megapixels, but we know that it has a size of 1/1.31 inches with 1.2 micron pixels and a 2.4 micron pixel binning.
Regarding the camera configuration, at least in the Xiaomi 14, it will be a wide angle, a main camera equivalent to 23 millimeters with f/1.6 aperture and a 75 millimeter f/2.0. In the photo examples published by Xiaomi we can see a 46 millimeter, so we can guess that it is a 2x digital. We will see if it is lossless.
Now we just have to wait for the official presentation to have the details that need to be known, unless Xiaomi continues publishing features.
