Netflix released the first teaser for the third season of The Witcher last Tuesday (25) and fans are already demonstrating that they don’t like the changes that will be included in the series from now on. This is because the teaser is being bombarded with dislikes for the departure of Henry Cavill as Gerald in the fourth season.

At the moment, the official trailer for the third season of The Witcher on YouTube has 51,000 likes and 193,000 dislikes, numbers that can only be viewed with the “Return Youtube Dislike” extension of the Chrome Web Store, as YouTube hides the number of dislikes since November 2021.

The reason for the fans’ annoyance is very simple: Henry Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the role of Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season of the series after falling out with the production team of the series. This caused the actor and the production team of Andrzej Sapkowski’s source material to leave the production on their own initiative.

Some of the most liked comments in the video say that the actor will be “irreplaceable”, as he was knowledgeable of the universe as a gamer.

I love the part where Henry left to start his own project with Amazon about the universe of [Warhammer] 40k where he has creative control (…). It really is going to be a great series.

Thankfully we have an actor like Henry who respects the source material and is also a nerd.

Respect your actors, respect the source material, respect your audience. Thank you Henry, you spoke for all of us.

The Witcher season 3 will be split into two volumes: the first with episodes 1-5 on June 29 and the second volume on July 27 with episodes 6-8.
