In October of last year, CD Projekt Red announced the development of a slew of new games, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (codenamed Orion), a remake of the first The Witcher (codenamed Canis Majoris), a new trilogy of The Witcher, which continues the events of The Witcher 3 (Project Polaris), an unreleased title derived from The Witcher developed by studio Molasses Flood under the codename Siriusand a new intellectual property developed under the code name Hader.
As it turns out, new job openings posted by the Molasses Flood studio may have revealed more details about the Sirius Project.
Acquired by CD Projekt Red in 2021, Molasses Flood studio, known for games like Drake Hollow and The Flame in the Flood, is developing a new multiplayer game based on The Witcher franchise.
At the time of the announcement, the developer revealed that, despite taking place in The Witcher universe, The Sirius Project will be aimed at a wider audience. Additionally, the multiplayer experience will also feature a single player mode.
Through several new job openings posted by The Molasses Flood, we were able to discover that the game should feature PvE, co-op, social activities, a class system, multiple game modes, branching and non-linear storytelling, cinematic dialogue, dialogue voice acting, various weapons and enemies, procedural generation, action combat, and a stylized look.
This may indicate that the project should follow a style very similar to that of Fortnite, mainly due to the stylized look.
For now, we must treat the information with caution. Although everything comes from an official job listing, sometimes job descriptions are copied from previous and outdated job openings, which means that they sometimes contain inaccurate information. Also, the job listing doesn’t mean much for a game in development, as things are constantly changing during development, especially before the reveal.
What do you think of this idea for a new The Witcher game?
