2021 will be remembered as the year in which thousands of people sold digital content like NFT, and where many others spent millions of dollars acquiring various memes and historical archives.

With half of the population in favor of this type of movement, which could be compared to art collecting, and the other half without understanding how someone spends so much money on an image that anyone can download, NFTs are still booming.

FC Barcelona recently announced that it would sell NFT on its website, although shortly after it canceled the project with problems with the associated company, and DC Comics also had great success distributing NFTs to those who participated in the registration of one of its events (¡¡ I got two!). Now it is the turn of Wikipedia.

Jimmy Wales, co-founder of Wikipedia, has decided to sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of the first edition he made, and he will do so by partnering with the auction house Christie’s, which will put it up for sale from December 3-15. It will also auction the Apple computer that it used at the time, as can be seen on the page “the birth of Wikipedia” that the auction house has created for the moment.

The money raised will go to charities and WikiTribune Social, money from whoever is willing to pay for a 2001 version that says “Hello world!”

We will see this page on the web, and it can be edited, although every 5 minutes it will return to its initial version with its characteristic message. The bet is already online and at the moment someone is willing to pay 1,500 dollars for the image of the first version of Wikipedia. It’s not much, but there is still until the 15th. You can see the details at onlineonly.christies.com.

Christie’s auction house has a lot of experience with NFT. It has already sold an NFT-based digital piece for $ 69 million, and everything indicates that it will continue like this, selling digital art among those who are willing to pay for it.
