The old Wi-Fi and Mobile Data buttons in the quick settings panel still exist in Android 13, but apparently there is no way to enable them without modifying the operating system or using a third-party app.
android 12 replaced the Wi-Fi and Mobile Data buttons with a new button in the quick settings called “Internet”.
Google’s reasoning for combining these two buttons into one can only be read herebut basically I was going to say that it simplifies connectivity troubleshooting for less experienced users, who don’t quite understand the difference between one type of connectivity or another.
While manufacturers could continue to enable those buttons in their customization layers, the Pixels were left without them. On Android 12, it was possible re-enable the system Wi-Fi and Mobile Data buttons by executing a few simple commands in the ADB shell, but this trick no longer works on Android 13, as many people have already found out.
The reason this only works on Android 12 is because the code that decided when to replace the Wi-Fi and Mobile Data tiles with Internet had a check to see if the “carrier model” setting was on. That check has been removed in Android 13, so Android will now always remove the Wi-Fi and Mobile Data tiles from Quick Settings.
The only way to get them back if you have a Pixel is use an app that implements its own buttons in the quick settings section for Wi-Fi and mobile data. One of them is ‘Better Internet Tiles’if you want to try it.
Of course, as we discussed earlier, manufacturers can continue to implement these quick buttons if they wish, as Google does not require them to be removed to certify a device. In fact, in the Samsung OneUI 5 beta, they are still present. Let’s see if they last.
