The latest feature from WhatsApp allows you to block users who have sent spam messages directly from the lock screen.

In WhatsApp there is no rest when it comes to developing new functions. If it was recently announced that you can send messages in Spain even without having an account, now a new protection measure has just been released that will make users safer from messages intended to scam.

This is a novelty that is already reaching many users and whose objective is avoid conversations started by strangers whose purpose is clearly harmful. From now on, you won’t even need to open the conversation to end it and block the person who started it.

With this, the instant messaging platform seeks to protect users, not only from possible phishing attempts, but also from spam and pyramid scam attempts. A great feature that can help the most unwary users not to fall into the trap.

More protection on WhatsApp

Normally, a person who is not in the contact list starts a conversation on WhatsApp, the application offers, at the top, the possibility of adding said user to contacts or lock it so it doesn’t bother you anymore. To do this, however, it is necessary to enter said conversation, and if the privacy options are not configured, the other person could see that you are online.

With this new feature, the moment WhatsApp detects a pattern in the message that indicates that This may be a phishing attemptit will directly offer the user the possibility of ending the conversation directly from the notification.

This way, you don’t even have to open the app, since WhatsApp will alert you of what, surely, are the intentions behind the person on the other side of the conversation. According to Android Police, this is a feature that the company has announced globally, so it is only a matter of time before all users receive it. The best way to do this is to keep the app in the latest version available on Google Play, although it seems that it will arrive through an update on the server side.
