The departure of Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, founders of Instagram, from the company run by Mark Zuckerberg in 2018 due to disagreements with it over the way in which they wanted to face the evolution of Instagram, has allowed them enough time so that now are preparing the return to the segment of social networks with a new proposal that could change the way in which users can be up to date on the topics that interest us.

According to the Platformer publication, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger teamed up again to create a next-generation social app developer company, being artifact the first of the applications that will soon reach the hands of users.

The idea behind Artifact is to ooffer an experience based on a personalized news source that would work in the TikTok style, where users will go from one news item to another vertically through a selection established by an Artificial Intelligence algorithm from a number of verified news sources.

The possibility of establishing conversations about each piece of news with one’s own friends is striking.something that was missing in its day in Google reader, but that is possible in Inoreader, but taking into account that Inoreader is a service focused on a much more specific segment of users, hence many alternatives to Google Reader have had to shut down their services over time.

Artifact, according to the aforementioned publication, is opening its waiting list today to be able to start having users at launch, with versions of its application for both Android and iOS.

The Platformer post notes that the easiest way to understand Artifact is to see it as a kind of TikTok for text, although it could also be seen as a surprise attack on Twitter. It is curious to see how Twitter also wants to be more like TikTok, and now an alternative is coming out to allow you to keep up to date with your favorite topics in the TikTok style.

Users who become part of the new app will only see a news tab, though beta users are currently testing two additional features that Systrom hopes will become a core part of the app.

One of those features is a user-generated news feed being followed, and the second is a direct message inbox for privately discussing posts with friends.
