Google Meet will have a new function that you can activate when you have to take a video call while you are away from home or the office.

So if you are one of those who take a meeting at any time of the day, it will be useful to have this new dynamic.

Meet will avoid embarrassing moments when you take a meeting on the street

“On-The-Go” is the new function that Google Meet could implement shortly, as reported in 9to5google.

While we don’t expect after-hours business meetings, the reality is that some video calls can’t wait for the next day. In that case, they may affect your routine and you may not be exactly in front of the computer.

Yes, it’s true, mobile phones make it easy to have a video call at any time, but not ideal when we’re on the street. For those exceptional cases, Google Meet wants to take care of you so that you do not have an accident on the street, or that you are too distracted to turn off the camera.

And for this, it will use the motion sensors to detect when you are walking to recommend that you switch to “On-The-Go”. When you make that change in Meet, the app’s interface will automatically change.

You’ll see a simpler interface that’s easier to interact with, with large buttons to access major features like the raise hand icon, mute, and manage audio. And most importantly, it will automatically turn off your camera, so you can keep moving without worrying about how you’ll fare in the meeting.

And on the other hand, it will disable the video transmission of each of the participants to maintain that minimalist interface that we mentioned before. Of course, you can deactivate this function at any time to return to the normal version of the Google Meet app.

Another possibility is that you don’t expect Meet to recommend you switch to this feature, and do it manually from the app’s settings. A dynamic that can be useful in different contexts.

This is a test version at the moment, so you won’t find it in the stable version of Google Meet yet.
