The updates are not without errors and proof of this is what happened last year around the May 2020 update of Windows 10, which instead of being completed in a few days, took Microsoft more than eight months: computers not suitable for the update they received the update, those who did have hardware to support it were waiting longer than desired and, in addition, the different builds did nothing but cause new problems. The fact is that Microsoft put into circulation in the middle of this month the latest update of those that it had planned according to its calendar and the truth is that things have not turned out as expected, because many users, especially from the business field, have begun to report serious problems with some of those peripherals they use the most on a daily basis, such as printers, scanners, etc. So do you know what is happening? Problem with a specification Basically, those of Redmond have confirmed that it is a problem caused by the update of July 13, which causes that the personalized identification cards of the users cannot be verified correctly, thus preventing the use of peripheral. As you know, especially in the business environment, many companies give their employees cards that they use to identify themselves and assign each print job to its user. That makes it easy to send scanned files to their email addresses and also keep track of what each one consumes every month. Well, if you are in this situation that you cannot use your card, talk to the person in charge of IT to point out that Microsoft itself has published complete documentation on what is happening, and that it summarizes by stating that “after installing the updates Released on July 13, 2021 on domain controllers (DCs) in your environment, printers, scanners, and multifunction devices that do not comply with section 3.2.1 of the RFC 4556 specification may not print when using a card intelligent (PIV) ”. According to those of Redmond, this problem is present in all the cumulative updates that were sent to computers with Windows 10 so they are already working on a solution. Even so, and in the meantime, Microsoft appeals that we consult with the manufacturer: “If your firmware and drivers are up to date and you still encounter this problem, we recommend that you contact the device manufacturer. Please ask if an adjustment or configuration change is required for the device to comply with the booster change or if a compatible update will be available. ” Anyway, the user identification and password still works, so while the card holder returns, it should work without problems. >
