The Google team announced a series of new features that are coming to your search engine.
The idea behind these features is that users can have more context in the search results and know if the sources that are presented can be trusted. We tell you what it is about.
New features in Google search results
One of the new features that we will find in Google search results is called “Insights”. This will appear as a carousel below the main stories, so that users have more context about the topic or news that interests them.
That way, they’ll be able to see articles and opinions from multiple sources and authors, beyond the main search results. This new dynamic will first roll out in English and only in the United States, and may eventually roll out to other countries.
Another function is “About the author”, which will allow users to have a reference to the author of the article with a simple click. One option will roll out globally, but only in English. On the other hand, the Google team announced that it is extending the “About this result” function to more languages, which was launched in English some time ago.
And in Spanish, a dynamic will soon be implemented that Google activates automatically when there is not enough quality information on a topic:
Sometimes there just isn’t a lot of great information to display in a search, or the results change quickly, and that can be important context for people as well. To address these information gaps, Google Search will automatically display content advisories in situations where a topic is evolving rapidly.
So while we can find some results from reliable sources that deal with a news or developing topic, Google wants users to have more sources to find out about the topic.
