Every time there more awareness of the risks that services like TikTok pose for children and adolescents. And except for cases such as Instagram, which despite these and recent revelations, has not yet announced that it is canceling its plans to create a service for adolescents, it seems that the networks are beginning to be aware of their responsibility in this regard, and they begin to apply measures aimed at protecting this type of audience.

We can enter into the discussion about whether these types of movements by social networks respond exclusively to altruistic motivations or, on the contrary, They are a defensive move against the risk that the authorities decide to establish stricter regulations, that affect their interests with greater intensity. And it is a legitimate debate, as we have more than enough reason to suspect altruism. However, that does not mean that TikTok and other networks are taking measures that, in the end, are the most important.

And in this regard, we get very interesting news from China, and that is that the Chinese version of TitkTok, called Douyin and which also belongs to ByteDance, begin to limit both the time teens can connect and the hours to do so. This restriction has been announced by the company in a statement, and its application will take place imminently, although there are certain limitations.

And is that the restriction will only apply to nominal accounts, that is, those in which users are identified with their first and last names. Those who do not identify the user will be able to continue accessing the Chinese variant of TikTok without limitations. It is to be expected that in the future they will take some kind of measure to avoid this difference, otherwise it is to be expected that many minors will create accounts of this type to bypass the restrictions.

And what are the limits of the Chinese version of TikTok? Well, on the one hand, as we have already indicated in the title, your access will be limited to a maximum of 40 minutes per day, so they have to ration and streamline their access, instead of spending hours and hours reviewing content. But it is not the only thing, additionally also These users will be prevented from accessing the service between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., so that the social network does not affect your sleep hours.
