The Tesla Sentry mode, or Sentinel mode is one of the coolest features in the electric motor giant’s family of vehicles. The firm founded by Elon Musk allows the cameras of their cars to record what happens around to deter possible vandals. And now you receive one of your most important updates.

Already, at the end of 2020 rumors began to emerge about the possibility that Tesla’s Sentinel mode allowed you to see in real time the cameras of your vehicle to know what is happening around you. Now, Tesla owners can now remotely transmit live images from their car cameras, as reported from Electrek.

Control what happens around your Tesla from your mobile

The initial idea of this Tesla Sentry mode was to use the car cameras as a surveillance system. Now, after the latest Tesla 2021.36.8 software update, the “Sentry Mode Live Camera Access” function is added which, as its name suggests, allows you to view the cameras in real time using your mobile phone.

At the moment this function is available only for the iOS version of the app, but we can assume that sooner rather than later it will land on Android devices. As indicated in the update “now you can remotely view the surroundings of your car when it is parked to confirm the safety of your surroundings before returning to your car”.

Without at doubt it is one of the most important updates to the Sentinel mode of Tesla cars, which was launched in 2019. And beware, Elon Musk has not hesitated when responding to a message from a Twitter user congratulating the company for adding this new feature.

Regarding the security of the transmitted images, in the update notes, Tesla has made it very clear that all recordings are end-to-end encrypted, so that only the owner of the vehicle will have access to them.

If you have a Tesla car and you want to enjoy this function, it should be remembered that It is included in the Premium Connectivity subscription, which is priced at 9.99 euros per month.
