Telegram is removed from the App Store after court order; Google can do the same
Apple complied with the court’s request and removed the Telegram messenger from the App Store. The application was blocked in Europe last Wednesday (26) by the Federal Court of Espírito Santo after refusing to collaborate with investigations by the Federal Police, which investigates the presence of neo-Nazi groups that incite and share content of violence on the social network.
This measure should be adopted by Google in the coming days with the removal of Telegram from the Play Store, with this both iOS and Android users will be unable to update or install the application. Withdrawal from official stores prevents people from using VPN tools to counter the ban.
Apparently, Telegram is still available on the Mac App Store, but it’s a matter of time before the Cupertino giant also removes it from the brand’s laptops and computers store. According to information, users are faced with the message “App not available” when searching for the messenger.
The CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, took a position yesterday (27) on the case, stating that it is impossible to provide the information required by the PF, so the blocking of the application must persist. He also took advantage of the statement to reinforce the commitment to freedom of expression and privacy of users.
In 2022, Telegram was blocked for a few hours at the request of STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who determined the suspension in the country until the platform presented measures to combat misinformation during last year’s elections. The application returned to work after complying with the Court’s determination.

Considering Durov’s speech, it is possible that Telegram will remain suspended in Europe indefinitely due to the “technological limitation” to comply with the requirements of the PF.
