If you’ve been following us for a while, then you probably already know that in addition to keeping you informed, we’re always trying to add more knowledge to your everyday life, with tips and tutorials so you can get the most out of your devices and apps.
Today, continuing this routine, we present another tip; this time, for Mac users! Check out in the short section below how to display the System Desk with just a simple keyboard shortcut.
Known as Mesa within the Apple environment, but widely known by Windows users as “Desktop”, this section of the operating system has great value for some users, being a true center of all – or almost all – activity carried out on the computer.
But while in the competing OS there are shortcuts to minimize and maximize all applications at once, those who arrive with the same mindset in macOS may face some obstacles, since there is not the same shortcut in Mac.
But Apple’s system also offers its facilities. Press the F11 key (or Fn + F11) can quickly take you to your Desk, throwing open applications to the sides of the screen. And if the shortcut doesn’t suit you, you can easily change it through System Settings. Check below:
- On your Mac, click on the apple icon located in the upper left corner of the screen and select the option “System Settings”;
- Now slide down the sidebar and click on “Keyboard”;
- In the new menu, click on the button “Keyboard Shortcuts…”.
- Select the “Mission Control” in the side menu. You will see the shortcuts already defined for the system;
- In “Show Table”, double click on the current shortcut key. The field will open;
- Press the key on the keyboard that you would like the new shortcut to be;
- Click in “Concluded” to confirm the change.
You’ve learned how to change the shortcut to show the Desktop on your Mac! In addition to being able to press F11 (or the chosen shortcut key), you can also configure a quick access corner to perform this and several other functions – as we explain here in our other tutorial.
