ChatGPT became one of the most popular topics in early 2023 and its integration with Bing has already yielded good results for Microsoft, increasing the number of visits to the survey portal by 15.8%, as reported by Reuters. The pointed numbers were observed after the launch of the new AI-powered Bing and Edge in early February.
Data collected up to March 20 still indicate that the number of visits to Google fell by 1% in the same period, which may indicate the migration of part of them to Microsoft’s search engine. Gil Luria, analyst at DA Davidson & Copoints out that even such a small percentage can already be beneficial for Bing, which has already reached 100 million daily active users.
Another interesting phenomenon is the number of downloads of the Bing app, which grew about 8 times in the period between February 5th and March 8th, which was certainly driven by the integration of ChatGPT that can also be accessed through the app.
Speaking in direct numbers, Bing downloads jumped from 100 thousand to 810 thousand in the period, while the Google application recorded a reduction from 2.98 million to 2.91 million downloads in this same window, the equivalent of a drop of 2 %.
It is worth remembering that Google has launched registrations for tests with Bard, its artificial intelligence that will compete with Bing, so this scenario can change drastically in the future, as Bing has just gained the reinforcement of DALL-E, which is capable of generating images using artificial intelligence.
