Tabs Coming: Windows 11 File Explorer Should Receive New Function in 2022

Users of the Windows 11 Dev channel can now access an interesting new feature in File Explorer: the tabs. The feature was released by Microsoft on August 10 and information from the Windows Latest portal indicates that this improvement should reach the stable version of the system in 2022.

The tabs in File Explorer are very useful, as they allow you to work more quickly and conveniently with the native application, as if they were tabs in Chrome, for example. Unfortunately they are still restricted to a few users, since the Dev version of Windows 11, which is not recommended for daily use, as it can have many bugs.

As such, the tabs are expected to come to the stable version of Windows 11 after the release of version 22H2, which will be released in the last week of September 2022, with an expanded rollout to more users in October and November.

So, this big update still shouldn’t bring much desired tabs, but they should be implemented in a cumulative update released soon after, in October or November of this year.

Meanwhile, the 22H2 update should focus on tweaking other areas of the system like Settings, application support, Taskbar, window tweaks, and more.
