TC Teach: how to hide a song from a playlist on Spotify

O Spotify started notifying game users music guessing that the service will be closed on the 5th of May. Called Heardle, the game was very successful on social networks and was bought by streaming last year.

In a message displayed on the official website, the platform says: “Thank you for playing Heardle, but unfortunately we have to say goodbye. As of next May 5th, Heardle will no longer be available”. The company has not informed the reasons for such decision.

The platform also highlighted that players who want to keep a record of their stats for posterity should take a screenshot. That data will no longer be available after May 4, Spotify said.

Heardle emerged early last year after the huge success of Wordle. Third-party data suggests the game peaked at 69 million monthly visitors last March. Even so, the Spotify has decided to shut down the service.

Heardle creators sold the game to Spotify in July 2021. When it bought the game, the streaming platform said it saw it as a good music discovery tool for those passionate about musical notes.

It could be that Spotify didn’t have a high level of click-through rates, so Heardle might not have helped the service that much. Furthermore, the game is said to have mimicked some music discovery functions that are also present in the Spotify app.
