South Dublin residents are on high alert after “brazen” hooligans attempted to break into several homes in broad daylight.
A Rathfarnham resident had to rush home after receiving a call from their neighbour about their house alarm going off.
After arriving at the property in Stockingwood, they were shocked to discover marks on the top right of their newly installed door and the frame resulting from being forced to open.
Gardai have warned that there has been a pattern of similar break-ins in the area.
A post on a local Facebook group reads: “Today around midday we got a call that our alarm was going off from our neighbour.
“I flew home and the alarm said it was the front door,
“We had only a new door fitted few months back and found marks to the top right and on the inside frame, definitely after being forced.
“I was on to the gardai and they’re saying it’s a pattern in the area.
“[The] brazen pups don’t care, we’re lucky this time.”
A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí attended an incident of attempted burglary that occurred at a domestic residence in the Stockingwood area of Rathfarnham, Co Dublin on the morning of Monday, the 22nd of November 2021.
“No belongings were taken in the course of this incident. No injuries have been reported.
