Qualcomm announced it Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, the new System on a Chip for medium-low range smartphones. It is a SoC on which the not simple task of maximize the value for money, indeed performance+contents/price. The first generation Snapdragon 4 has been seen on a few occasions, the newly presented SoC has the task of being more attractive to manufacturers.

The giant from San Diego is sure it has presented a product that lacks nothing to do it:

Snapdragon, at its core, drives innovation and meets the demands of OEMs and the industry at large,” said Matthew Lopatka, director of product management at Qualcomm. With this generational advancement of the Snapdragon 4 series, consumers will have greater access to the most popular and relevant mobile features and capabilities. We have optimized every aspect of the platform to maximize user experiences.

Between central themes of the new project are there

  • performance: the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the first SoC in the series to be made with a 4-nanometer production process, a fairly comprehensive indicator of the balance between performance and consumption, efficiency in a single word. Qualcomm also mentions the Kryo CPU, which with its 2.2 GHz peak increases performance by up to 10% compared to 4 Gen 1 and the support for Full HD + screens up to 120 Hz, for the medium-low range it’s not bad at all .
  • cameras: Electronic image stabilization and faster autofocus help you take better photos and videos of moving subjects. And for the first time in the 4-series, Multi Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF) is built into the hardware: it ensures better noise reduction in videos
  • intelligence artificial: Used to increase the sharpness and detail of photos and videos in low light conditions, and to improve the reduction of background noise in calls and videos
  • connectivity: thanks to the Snapdragon X61 5G modem, 4 Gen 2 increases the speeds that can be reached on the mobile network and supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.

THE first devices with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, Qualcomm adds, they should arrive in the second half of the year. The company explicitly mentioned Redmi and Vivo among the first companies to come out with projects based on the new SoC, according to the most recent rumors there should be Redmi Notes 12R.
