Snapchat has just released its results for the first quarter of the year. The data reflects that the company continues to grow, both in revenue and in users, thus continuing the upward trend registered during 2020.

Snapchat accumulates at this point 280 million daily users, which represents an increase of 22% compared to the same period last year, when the app had 229 million users per day. The company’s expectations are to reach 290 million users in the quarter that has just begun.

The number of users of Snapchat has grown in all regions of the world. In the United States they have increased by 5%, in Europe by 9% and up to 57% in the rest of the world. The company has been growing sharply for months in India, where it already has more than 60 million users a day.

The Asian country is one of the three, along with Mexico and Brazil, in which Spotlight has been implemented this last quarter, a function within Snapchat for short videos very similar to TikTok. This tool has experienced strong growth during the first three months of 2021, going from 100 million users a day in January to 125 million in the month of March. Between January and March, the number of users who watch at least ten minutes of videos a day has increased by 70%.

The company’s revenue has also increased notably compared to the first quarter of 2020. In these first three months of the year, Snapchat has entered 770 million dollars, which is 66% more than in the first quarter of last year. However, it is a significant drop when compared to the 911 million dollars that Snapchat entered in the fourth quarter of 2020.
