The development of Silent Hill 2 is close to completion, according to new information from Bloober Team studio.

After months of leaks and rumors, Konami announced in October that the Polish studio responsible for The Medium, Layers of Fear and Blair Witch would remake the classic survival horror game released in 2021.

In an interview with PAP Business, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno revealed that Silent Hill 2 is technically done. However, he explains that this does not mean that the game is finished, but that the studio is close.

When talking about a possible release date and the beginning of the dissemination of promotional materials, he said that it does not depend on Bloober Team, but on its partners, indirectly quoting Konami.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and will introduce the over-the-shoulder perspective popularized by Resident Evil 4. Bloober Team is redoing the combat and certain parts of the game to modernize it.

It is worth noting that the game will be released as a timed exclusive for PS5 and PC, with Konami revealing that the original creators, such as art director Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka, are “deeply” involved with the project.

Bloober Team promises a busy year in addition to the remake of Silent Hill 2. It is also producing a remake of Layers of Fear slated for a June release and a new, as-yet-undisclosed, horror IP set to hit the market in 2025 and published by Take-Two’s Private Division.
