An augmented reality app for tattoo lovers, an app for traffic rules and fines, and a backup solution for Linux.

This week’s short test is all about free software that can save you from wrong decisions. If you are unsure which tattoo to decorate your next arm, leg or other body part, you can Inkhunter help in choosing the subject. The smartphone app uses augmented reality to project one of more than 10,000 templates onto your skin, potentially preventing you from posting the wrong image after your pub crawl.

Before that, take a look at the GdP app. Because it reveals, among other things, whether you are allowed to drive drunk with the electric scooter to the tattoo studio. The software developed by the police union GdP also provides information about other things such as possible fines and is also suitable for license plate guessing during long car journeys.

Annoying, but at least not punishable, if you forget backups. The Linux program Pika backup optionally creates backup copies automatically, is easy to use and uses the proven command line tool BorgBackup under the surface.
