All operating systems include some tools that are not very well known, and this is a shame because many of them are really useful. An example is the so-called Nearby Sharing that exist on computers running Windows 11 (other older versions). We tell you what you can do with it and how to activate it. This is a function that allows you to share files of all kinds between computers that use the Microsoft operating system. You will think that this is nothing new, but if you add that this is achieved without you having to put any cables in between and that the configuration is practically non-existent, things change. TRUE? With it you can avoid the use of the cloud to achieve this, something that is becoming more and more common. In addition, in many cases, if the transfer speed needs are not particularly high, it also prevents you from having to take out a USB flash drive or do the same with an external drive. How does this Windows 11 feature work? Well, taking advantage of WiFi and Bluetooth networks if it exists, something that is not exactly unusual today. In this way, the computers that use it, whether at home or at work, can send files easily and comfortably. Therefore, and as it is logical to think, the requirements are very low, since you simply have to comply with having access to the aforementioned wireless connections. And, as far as the operating system is concerned, you must use the Windows 11 versions or the previous one developed by Microsoft (called 10). That’s all. In what has to do with activation, what you have to do is access the operating system Settings and, in the System section, in the area on the right you will find the section called Nearby sharing. By default it is disabled, so you have to go in and change this. You can set that only your teams recognize you or all the ones that are within the maximum distance. Then, you have the option to choose the folder in which everything you receive will be saved and, also, you will be able to change the name of the computer if you need it. This is how this option is used to share files The way to do this is very simple. These are the steps you have to take and, obviously, you can repeat them as many times as you consider necessary: Select the file you want to share and, on the top ribbon, click on the icon called ShareIn the Proximity sharing section, select the team you want to share. is active and at a suitable coverage distance. Now on the receiving Windows 11 computer a message appears that if accepted allows the process to complete. As you can see, everything couldn’t be simpler, and the time to send a message depends on the size of the file and, also, on the speed of the wireless networks you use. >
