“Sandman” reveals new trailer, when does it premiere and where can it be seen?

The adaptations of books, novels or comics, to film or television, are not always honorable, and there are even few that manage to have a good reception by fans of the original works and by critics.

There are even titles that, due to their stories and the complexity of their frameworks, are said to be texts that are impossible to adapt, and it is precisely in this category that Sandmanseries of comics that were launched between 1989 and 1996, written by Neil Gamanwho for years was against his work being taken to the movies or on TV.

It took more than three decades for Gaiman agree to sell the rights to his comics to Netflixamong other things, on the condition that he be part of the producers, which would guarantee that his work would be respected.

The ten-episode series will premiere on August 5 and since its production, the streaming platform has been very tight-lipped when it comes to revealing details of this new show, which is why great expectation caused that during the live panel from Hall H in the San Diego Comic-Conthe official trailer for Sandman.

The panel consisted of the protagonists Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Jenna Coleman, Vanesu Samunyai, Asim Chaudhry, Patton Oswalt and the creator and executive producer Neil Gaman and the showrunner CEO Allan Heinberg.

Before this was possible the project went through several studios and various directors, writers and producers. For Gaiman, one of the great challenges of adapting his story was to be able to translate the philosophical and visual complexity of his comics into a television language.

The protagonist of this story lives in Dreaming, that place where all people go when they dream and where Sandmanis the king of sleep (Sturridge) and who is in charge of shaping the deepest fears and fantasies.

Like the comics, the series will tell the story of Sandmana cosmic being that controls dreams, who is captured and kept prisoner for more than a century, which is why he must travel through different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos that his absence has caused.

To restore order and make amends for the mistakes he made during his long existence, Sueño must travel through different planes and timelines, meeting old friends and enemies alike. As he seeks to fulfill his mission, he will meet new entities, both cosmic and human.

Based on the popular comic series by DC written by Gaiman, Sandman is a rich blend of myth and dark fantasy, riddled with strong characters who, throughout the series, recount the many adventures of Sueño.

This is not the first time that a work of neil llegate to streaming, in 2017 it came through Prime Video the adaptation of his novel entitled american gods, which had three seasons until it was canceled in 2021.

In the same streaming service there is another adaptation to a work by Gaiman, it is good omensseries based on 1990 novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter Witch of Terry Pratchett Y Neil Gaiman.

The show that was conceived as a miniseries, due to the success it had a second season. The series stars michael sheen, David Tennan, Jon Ham Y Frances McDormand and you can see through Prime Video.
