Camera Assistant, the Samsung app that allows you to obtain additional options to make the most of the camera on Galaxy smartphones has so far been exclusive to Samsung’s high-end devices including all Galaxy S22 and the most recent Galaxy S23 . Last February, with version 1.1.00.4, support also arrived for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21 family and leaflets Z Fold 4 (review) and Z Flip 4 (review).

However, according to what was stated by a moderator of the official Samsung community, the Korean company would be working for extend the compatibility of the Camera Assistant app to smartphones in the Galaxy A range as well. Support should happen at the same time as the release of a new version of One UI.
Although it has not been mentioned specifically, it is likely that we are talking about the One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 which should arrive during the second half of the year. At the moment, in fact, the new release of Google’s operating system is still in the beta phase. The One UI 5.1.1, however, always based on Android 13, should arrive with the next foldables that will be launched towards the end of August.
The community moderator limited himself only to indicating the Galaxy A series in a generic way, without going into detail on the models interested in support. However, it is probable that it will initially arrive only on the best performing models – Galaxy A53, Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A73 – where there could be real advantages in using the app
SAMSUNG PHOTO APPS
Camera Assistant offers several options to customize the behavior of Samsung’s standard camera app in certain scenarios. For example, users can disable automatic capture in HDR, decide whether the camera prioritizes shutter speed over post-processing, force the camera to capture more photos when a timer is set, and more.
However, Camera Assistant does not require specific hardware to function, which would make it easily compatible with all other smartphones, not just the Galaxy S. Furthermore, Camera Assistant is not the only camera support app developed by Samsung. In fact, the Korean company also made Expert RAW which allows you to take photos in raw format, for better post-processing, and to customize camera settings in even more detail.
