Perfect for those who break their mobile screen every now and then: the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 can withstand whatever they throw at it

The maximum resistance in a smartphone is back within the Samsung catalog: sharing a place with the brand new ones Galaxy S23a few days before the Samsung Galaxy S24 sees the light, The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 takes off the shell to stand out from the rest thanks to its hardness. And without losing exaggerated features along the way, Samsung’s new rugged mobile phone does not have a bad specification sheet.

It doesn’t make you angry when your cell phone slips out of your hands and ends up hitting the ground. Or it falls into water and we discover that the protection against the elements is not as good as it should be: More than one of us would need an ultra-resistant mobile phone just to avoid disasters.. And they don’t have to be crude and low-end phones, as Samsung has a very good reference in the XCover family. This family has just been renewed.

Maximum resistance in a successful design

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 7

Facing a rugged mobile phone usually involves holding a large mass of hard plastic, heavy and with an exterior design that looks more like a throwing weapon than a phone. And Samsung maintains these premises without losing sight of a certain appeal in the exterior appearance: The Samsung XCover 7 is quite similar to its non-ultra-resistant brothers; always maintaining a great weight and materials designed to last.

Under a toughened Corning Gorilla Glass Victus glass face is a 6.6-inch LCD panel that dispenses with the high refresh rate of other phones without losing Full HD+ resolution. This panel appears cut off in the upper area by a “notch” that is already somewhat old: it is drop shaped. Under this cutout lies a timid 5-megapixel front camera, not that the Samsung XCover 7 intends to take good selfies. It’s not your audience either.

In terms of processing we do not know how the phone will perform: Samsung only confirms that the XCover 7 has a Eight-core SoC that is manufactured in 6 nm. It includes 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, offers expansion via micro SD Card (up to 1 TB) and has dual SIM, one of them eSIM.

If we already said that selfies were not the goal of the phone, it is not that it relies on versatility in the rear camera: the Samsung XCover 7 offers a single camera with a 50 megapixel sensor. The aperture is bright, at least on paper: f/1.8.

Since resistance is its main reason for being, the phone boasts IP68 and military certification (MIL-810H). Besides, Its 4,050 mAh battery is interchangeable: It is not necessary to take the mobile phone to technical service to renew the battery. It offers a programmable XCover Key button and has POGO connectors to charge the phone without plugging in the USB C connector. Which is 2.0.

Samsung XCover 7 price and availability

Presented and with an approximate launch date: Samsung’s most resistant mobile phone will be available in the usual markets this January. Of course, at the moment we do not know the prices. Following the line of previous models, the most logical thing is that the Samsung XCover 7 is around 600 euros.
