Samsung Galaxy Watch4/Watch5: Raise wrist gesture has stopped working for some users

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 are some of the best smartwatches for Android users, but some users are experiencing issues with the “raise wrist to wake” gesture not working properly. The function allows, once activated, we can turn on the watch screen when we raise the wrist on which we are wearing it to see the time. However, for some Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 owners, the “raise wrist to wake” gesture causes the watch to immediately lock and return to sleep mode. Technically speaking, the watch should always go to sleep shortly after activating the raise-to-wake gesture if the user doesn’t interact with the screen, but now this is happening immediately. The issue has been reported by multiple Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 owners on Reddit as well as on the Samsung support forums. A user recorded the problem on video.

It’s unclear if Samsung is aware of the issue, as the company hasn’t made any official comment. It also doesn’t seem to be a very widespread problem, but it is affecting quite a few people.
