Xiaomi presented, this Thursday (15), the Redmi 12, its new entry-level cell phone that brings a reworked look to align with the Redmi Note 12, but has basic hardware to serve as one of the cheapest options on the market. brand portfolio.

The Redmi 12 is equipped with a large 6.79-inch screen with IPS LCD technology, Full HD+ resolution (2,460 x 1,080 pixels) and 90 Hz refresh rate. The display achieves a peak brightness of 550 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,500:1. There is a hole in the top center of the panel that houses an 8 MP front camera.

At the rear, the cell phone has a triple set of cameras represented by a 50 MP main sensor — capable of recording videos at up to 1080p @ 30 FPS —, an ultrawide lens with an 8 MP sensor and 120º field of view, and a macro with 2 MP sensor.

Redmi 12 is powered by MediaTek Helio G88an entry-level chip with 2x 2.0GHz ARM Cortex-A75 cores and 6x 1.8GHz Cortex A55 cores, plus a Mali-G52 GPU.

The platform works with options of 4GB and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM combined with 128GB or 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage expandable with MicroSD up to 1TB.

To power this hardware, the smartphone has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports charging with power up to 18 W. Other specifications include a side fingerprint sensor, a hybrid slot for two SIM cards and support for proximity payments with NFC, whose availability may vary by region.

The model will come out of the box by executing the MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

The Redmi 12 is now available at retail stores and e-commerce platforms in Thailand. Color options include black, blue and silver.

The model costs 5,299 Thai baht (about R$ 735) in its version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, suggesting that cheaper variants should be released soon. For now, the Chinese manufacturer does not comment on the possibility of launching this cell phone in other countries.
