Razer Edge 5G is a new gaming focused handheld that the peripheral specialist has just announced at the Mobile World Congress in Las Vegas. It has been developed in collaboration with Verizon and Qualcomm and the company will provide more details on October 15 at RazerCon.

In its day, we predicted that Valve’s Steam Deck would be a great boost to animate a segment of handheld gaming machines that had lost market in favor of mobile gaming that facilitates the enormous versatility of modern smartphones.

But there’s nothing like a dedicated machine and after the Valve device, Chinese specialists such as AYA and ONE have increased their catalog of handhelds. However, the Razer Edge 5G that concerns us seems to be the answer to the Logitech G Gaming that the Swiss manufacturer has created together with Tencent Games.

What will the Razer Edge 5G look like?

The manufacturer has not detailed all its features, but we do know that the device will be based on the platform Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1. This mobile chipset has Adreno integrated graphics capable of supporting 10-bit HDR displays and refresh rates up to 144 Hz.

BREAKING: @Verizon, @Razer and @Qualcomm are teaming up on the world’s first 5G mobile gaming handheld—Razer Edge 5G! It will allow you to play your favorite games regardless of whether you are gaming in the cloud, on an app or streaming from your console. https://t.co/TYPw5xFyeF pic.twitter.com/F9Vg3CfABl

A previous prototype to show the capabilities of the SoC, used a screen 6.65-inch OLED with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. That is where the shots of this Razer Edge 5G should go, along with a design in which we see elegant side buttons and that should not differ too much from peripherals of the brand such as the Kishi V2, a controller high-end control for iPhone.

The Qualcomm chip also supports the latest connectivity standards, Wi-Fi 6E and 5G. This is where Verizon would come in with its infrastructure mmWave 5Gsurely the best wireless network for the fifth generation of mobile networks in the United States.

And it is that a fast, reliable and low latency Internet connection is essential to properly access the game services in the cloud supported by the device. It must be said that in addition to them, this machine will be able to play locally with access to the thousands of titles on the Android platform.

Very interesting this Razer Edge 5G of which we will have more details on October 15. We already told you.
