It seems that the Qualcomm is testing 10 inch tablets with the new processor Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4. The information comes from the German portal WinFuture, which mentions the development of a 12-core chip by the manufacturer. In this sense, it is likely that the component works with frequencies of up to 3.4 GHz.

With this, the expectation is that tablets, compact notebooks or 2 in 1 devices will be launched in the future with these architecture-based platforms ARM. In other words, this is Oryon, which should be advertised as a competitor to Apple Silicon.

The processor responds by codename ‘Hamoa‘ and of the 12 cores, 8 of them will be dedicated for performance, operating in the quoted frequencies. In addition, the remaining four cores will be in charge of the efficiency of the devices and will work at slightly lower speeds: 2.5GHz.

The graphics processing part should be on account of the Adreno 740 GPU. But it is possible that manufacturers add support for external video cards to devices. The development of the Oryon cores is being done by Nuvia, a company formed by former Apple employees who worked on the M line platforms.

Anyway, tests with this CPU are supposedly being done since November of last year. However, the component should not appear before the beginning of 2024. Still, it is quite likely that benchmark results will leak on the internet throughout the year. Recently, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon X35 modem, which accelerates the transition to 5G.
