The Google Pixel 7 (the review) and 7 Pro (here our review) seem to suffer from a particularly problematic bug which is becoming more and more known, given the continuous reports that have emerged on the net.
It is about theunable to save photos taken with zoom, a problem that occurs completely randomly and does not seem to affect a specific version of the operating system. The bug in question is very sneaky, as the camera UI makes us believe that the shot was successful – with also the waiting times necessary to process the photo -, however when you go to look for the image in the gallery you can’t find ita, as it was never saved.
Although this is not an issue related to a specific Android build, as there are reports of the same bug on the latest Android 13 QPR2 and even the Android 14 Developer Preview, it seems that the problem is more frequent with the 8.7.250.494820638.44 of the Google Camera. According to the first investigations, it seems that the failure to save could be linked to a bug related to HDR modes, but there are no official details on the matter.
Let’s hope that Google takes action on the matter soon, as it is a very annoying bug and could lead several users to miss shots, perhaps even important ones, without knowing it.
