PHP.RUHR 2022: Submit proposals for lectures and workshops by August 15th

From September 29th to 30th, 2022, the conference for PHP and web development, also known as “Bits & Currywurst”, will take place in the Borussia Dortmund stadium.

The PHP.RUHR conference will start again at the end of September 2022 as part of the “Bits & Currywurst” hybrid event series: The organizers have extended their call for proposals until August 15, 2022.

After the interruption caused by the pandemic, PHP and web developers can again look forward to an on-site event in the Borussia Dortmund stadium with exchange and personal networking. Bits & Currywurst and the PHP.RUHR conference provide impulses from keynote speakers and industry experts on the topic of digitization. Since the event follows a hybrid concept, participation is also possible online. As part of the Dortmund Digital Week, there will be a varied program from September 26th to 30th, 2022.

The organizers are planning workshops as webinars for September 28, and the actual two-day conference with a networking evening and closing event will take place on September 29 and 30. The entire event is under the patronage of the Economics Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dr. Andrew Pinkwart. Among other things, there will be a start-up brunch, impulses and panel discussions on the topics of sustainability, metaverse and smart cities. Keynote speeches on the topics of new work/lack of skilled workers/ethics and diversity are apparently also welcome.

Part of the program has already been set, and the status of planning can be seen on the event website. Here you will also find information on the framework conditions and participation. Further information can be found on the website of the Digital Week Dortmund, which again offers the framework for the event.

Anyone who would like to be actively involved and help shape the program can still submit contributions until August 15, 2022. The media library, which can be accessed at the same address, also contains the recordings of the editions of previous years. Anyone who wants to keep up to date with the program can find more information about Bits & Currywurst on their landing page and consult the PHP.RUHR website. The entire supporting program of the Dortmund Digital Week (“Diwodo” September 26-30) is in preparation and can be accessed on the Diwodo website. Interested parties can also create their own events here. Three official hashtags are in circulation for the conference, Bits & Currywurst and the Diwodo event conglomerate, which should make it easier to follow relevant posts on Twitter: #phpruhr22, #bc22 and #diwodo22.

In the years before the pandemic, the Digital Week had regularly hosted around 80 individual events and attracted around 4500 participants, the number of visitors to the PHP.RUHR was around 350. The virtual 2021 edition of Bits & Currywurst had Sascha Lobo as keynoter, the PHP.RUHR conference, on the other hand, was canceled in the previous year.
