A new Persona 5 game has been announced. The Persona series is one of the most beloved JRPG franchises by gamers, but it’s one of those franchises that also never stops delivering new stuff.
In addition to new releases from the main saga, we also have several spin-off games that help keep fans of the series engaged. SEGA has ensured that the Persona series remains alive with a variety of games, just like Final Fantasy.
Called Persona 5: The Phantom X, the new game was announced for Android and iOS. While many fans are disappointed that it’s a mobile game, it looks to bring the entire franchise experience to new platforms.
The game follows a new group of Phantom Thives in the city of Tokyo in an all-new original story designed especially for mobile phones. It also seems like the gameplay the franchise is known for remains intact, as you can attend school, do activities like playing baseball, and so on.
This will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, but a release date hasn’t been revealed for the west yet. For those living in China, there will be a playtest on March 29th, which you can sign up for by clicking here. Check out the gameplay trailer below:
This is certainly a great way to quell the anxiety of fans waiting for the announcement of Persona 6.
