Activision Blizzard has confirmed that in order to play Overwatch 2 we will need a phone number, which must be linked to our Battle.net account and that it will work as a disaster recovery mechanism. In this way, all users who play this new installment will have a two-step verification system activated.

According to the company, this verification method is essential to secure the account, and in the end it ends up being beneficial for the player. I can confirm that this is totally true. and that in the end, two-step verification represents an extra layer of protection that we will appreciate in case someone tries to compromise our account. However, I can understand that making it “mandatory” is something that may not please everyone.

In addition to this Activision Blizzard has also confirmed that it will establish what is known as “First Time User Experience”, or FTUE for its acronym in English, which is basically a training period for new players, a kind of “wall” that will prevent them from using the competitive game modes until they exceed this period. The FTUE will be very simple, we will have to play 50 rapid games in order to unlock competitive mode. This is supposed to give us a “minimal” training and prepare us for said mode.

Overwatch 2

If we want to unlock the entire cast of characters we will have to play about 100 competitive gameswhich means that Overwatch 2 is going to require a certain amount of effort on the part of the player, something that honestly doesn’t seem like a problem to me since in the end it’s a way to liven up the “grind” process and allow us to improve our skills.
