Opera launched this Tuesday (25) a new version of the browser with several optimizations for generative artificial intelligence resources – tools that gained prominence in 2023. Called Opera One, the browser is available in early access for developers interested in creating extensions and special functions for the app.

The browser has an optimized layout for generative artificial intelligence extensions. The company calls this new visual language “Modular Design”, which promises to automatically adjust the organization of elements to suit user behavior and enable a variety of productivity features.

One of the functions established in Opera One is the “Islas de Guias” (in English, “tab islands”). It is a resource that automatically organizes tabs based on contexts so that the user does not get lost among dozens of open web pages.

As the user browses the internet and islands of tabs are created completely autonomously, subjects can easily be distinguished and switched between them. The tabs are marked by separate colors and clear borders of the top bar — similar to that seen in Microsoft Edge —, so that their identification is simpler and faster.

Are you looking for the best lunch restaurant? Tabs with menus, locations and restaurant details will open in a dedicated island. Do you have a bunch of documents that you use for work? They can also get their own guide island.

In the browser sidebar, ChatGPT and ChatSonic are available by default. After logging in to the respective generative artificial intelligence platforms, just click on their icons and perform a search. AI Prompts are also enabled by default to offer commands based on the context of the open page or highlighted text.

Another highlight of the new application is its multithread composer, which promises to reduce the burden of rendering tasks on the web and improve the display of animations in the user interface of the browser itself, making your experience more fluid.

According to the developer, the Opera One should replace the original browser for Windows, Mac and Linux still in 2023. The company hasn’t revealed details about this transition, but it’s possible it will come through a major update to Opera. Early Access can be downloaded from the Opera website.
