In a post shared this morning, Pete Lau, CEO and co-founder of OnePlus, confirmed that the new global OnePlus 11 will be the brand’s first smartphone to receive four versions of Android.
In addition, the device will also have five years of support for security updates. That is, a brand that should make the smartphone reach Android 17 and also be updated by the year 2028.
With this move, OnePlus manages to match Samsung, which was one of the companies to start this new wave of extended support for its smartphones.

OnePlus’ change of positioning is announced days after the company mocked the Korean competitor for the launch of the Galaxy S23 line, and everything indicates that advanced software support also entered the dispute.
OnePlus still ended up surpassing the support offered by Google itself, which only delivers three versions of Android for its Pixel line smartphones.
Of course, extended support is something that every consumer wants, as this is the guarantee that your smartphone’s software will not be outdated in a short time.
It is also necessary to remember that, little by little, the Android universe has started to advance in the subject, but Apple continues to be the undisputed reference in the smartphone market. Recently, the brand surprised by releasing a security update for devices up to 10 years old.
