WhatsApp continues to explore new options that allow its application to be increasingly independent of the mobile device in question to which it is linked. As the number of devices from which it can be used increases, perhaps it is not necessary for everything to go through the mobile phone to be able to verify our account. The last proposal is to carry out this process using only our email.
WhatsApp has been very active for many months implementing improvements that allow its users to use the application more independence from your mobile device. And one of the avenues it is exploring for that with a growing number of options is regarding verification. Until now, in order to create a new account on WhatsApp it was necessary to enter a code that we received through a conventional text message. In this way, WhatsApp claimed that the mobile phone that we were entering into the registry was ours.
From now on, it will no longer be necessary to use this channel. Instead, we can add an email address to complete our verification process, just like many other social networks do. At the moment, this new functionality has only been deployed to a limited number of users in beta phase. However, and as usually happens every time we find ourselves faced with a similar situation, it is expected that, if everything works well, it will spread to the general public in the coming weeks.
An email to identify you
Enable this new possibility will be very simple. When the deployment is carried out to all users, all we will have to do is go to our WhatsApp profile, click on the account button and, later, access the Email Address menu. As we have already mentioned, if it is not available yet, it will be available very shortly.
From that moment, and once the email has been entered and validated with the six-digit number that we will receive on our traya, the only thing we will have to do every time we want to access our whatsapp account will be to identify ourselves with our email account, without having to repeat this configuration process at any time. In this way, we can continue using WhatsApp on any device, even if we have not logged in to any of them, with only access to our email account.
However, as a reminder, this new way can only be used if we have previously linked our phone number conventionally with the open session. For this reason, it is so important that we follow the previously mentioned route in order to have an alternative in the event that we lose our mobile phone or find ourselves without battery and need to log in on any computer or device.
No official date
WhatsApp has not used its usual channels, blog or social networks, to communicate this change. Therefore, we still cannot say exactly when we will be able to begin to identify ourselves in this way. For now, only beta users who download the version 220.127.116.11 They will be able to start testing with it.
In the meantime, we will have to continue waiting for movement from the company, which will occur towards the end of this year or, at the latest, during the first weeks of 2024. In the meantime, it is advisable always download the latest versions of the app in our application store to be sure that we have the latest improvements both in terms of security and in the functionalities that are being incorporated.
