The Nothing Phone 1 is due to receive a major software update soon. According to the brand’s executive director, Carl Pei, the intermediate cell phone that caught the public’s attention for its unusual look will receive Nothing OS 2.0, a new version of its user interface based on Android.

Although an update is more than expected for a cell phone launched less than a year ago, manufacturer executives say that Nothing OS 2.0 will represent a big leap compared to Nothing OS 1.5, promising a series of new features and general improvements that will make the brand’s smartphones even more distinctive.

The prediction is that Nothing OS 2.0 will be released for Nothing Phone 1 until the end of August of 2023, that is, less than two months after the launch of Nothing Phone 2, which should be officially presented on July 11th. The brand’s new cell phone should be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and options of up to 12 GB of RAM.

In a recent interview with XDA DevelopersMladen M. Hoyss, creative director of software at Nothing, revealed that the company is determined to “rebuild the operating system from scratch” to ensure that users have access to a totally renewed experience.

Hoyss claims that Nothing OS 2.0 “will be nothing like what exists today”. According to him, the new software will have a functional aesthetic that promises more convenience and practicality for users, but so far, he has not revealed many details about the project.
