This October 26, 2023 was a super special occasion for Xiaomi, as the Asian company removed the curtain on its new releases, where the series appears Xiaomi 14, the Xiaomi Watch S3 watch and the Xiaomi S Pro Mini LED TV. It is equally important to note that this event also marked the arrival of HyperOS, the new operating system that Xiaomi will use in almost all its smart devices from now on (it’s time to say goodbye to MIUI).

With that in mind, today we will focus on getting to know the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Prowhich are clearly the vanguard of this series of releases.

Xiaomi 14

As you can imagine, the Xiaomi 14 and its older brother are flagship phones with the best of the best on board. The Xiaomi 14 passes as the most compact of the two and shines with a accented square design by a square camera module that protrudes at the back. Likewise, the device sports a central metal frame and a screen protected by Gorilla Glass Victus glass. It cannot be missed to mention that both enjoy IP68 resistance against dust and water.

Speaking of screen, The Mi 14 has a Huaxing C8 AMOLED panel produced in collaboration between Xiaomi and TCL. This exhibits a 6.36-inch diagonal with resolution 1.5K, LTPO refresh rate of 1-120Hz and maximum brightness of 3,000nits. In addition, it has an integrated fingerprint reader and is compatible with HDR 10+, HLG and Dolby Vision standards.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 series proudly carries Qualcomm’s Opus Magnus, we refer to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. As if that were not enough, it has a huge vapor chamber to keep the device’s performance stable even under pressure. That said, the chip is accompanied by 8GB/12GB/16GB of RAM and internal storage options of: 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.

A 4,610mAh battery feeds the terminal and it supports a 90W fast charging when it is wired, since it supports 50W wirelessly. As if that were not enough, it has reverse charging at 10W.

Xiaomi 14 series connectivity options include: 5GWi-Fi, USB-C 3.2, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and infrared.

And in terms of software, these devices are the first to use HyperOSan Android-based system that the company calls an “Intelligent ecosystem for humans, cars and home, developed by Xiaomi over a period of 7 years.”

Leica cameras that don’t mess around

When it comes to photography, both the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro boast a triple rear camera signed and tuned by LEICA. The configuration begins with a 50MP Hunter 900 main sensor with OISfollowed by a lens 50MP ultra wide angle and a unit of telephoto lens with OIS and 50MP resolution. Those sensors have focal lengths of 23mm, 14mm and 75mm, respectively. There’s also a variable aperture from f/1.6 to f/2.2 for the main sensor (on the base model). For its part, the selfie camera is 32MP and that applies to both models.

Xiaomi 14 Pro

The Xiaomi 14 Pro isn’t much different from its younger brother, but it ups the ante in some key aspects; Not to mention that he is physically larger. In this sense, the 14 Pro invites us with a 6.73-inch AMOLED C8 display with curved edges and 2k resolution. Likewise, it has a refresh rate of 120Hz and maximum brightness of 3,000nits. Interestingly, there is an edition of the 14 Pro made of titanium instead of metal, as a result it is a little heavier (230 grams), but in return it should be stronger.

In terms of hardware it is almost the same as the standard model, but this time the minimum RAM is 12GB. In addition, The battery increases to 4,880mAh and fast charging increases to 120W (by cable).

Finally, the 14 Pro has the same cameras as its little brother, but with the enormous difference that itThe main sensor has a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 instead of f/1.6 to f/2.2.

Xiaomi 14 Pro

At the moment it is too early to talk about the availability of these terminals in the global market, but we know that it is only a matter of time to have official information. Be that as it may, in China, the standard Xiaomi 14 starts at 3,999 yuan (518 euros at the exchange rate)while the 14 Pro starts at 4,999 yuan (648 euros).
